Eagle Verify Door BUG Reports..........

24-NOV-1990

On some systems using the AUTOMATIC DISCONNECT ALL callers switch
the modem did not hangup the line. This has been fixed. Also the
problem with the calculations of the time within the door has also
been corrected with the release of the newest CKIT 1.75A!

20-NOV-1990

There is a problem with the calculations the door makes when
determining if an event is impending. This in no way effects the
door operation or the times given if any when the verify is
completed. Occasionally the "Warning - Time reduced due to Event"
string may appear, but is inaccurate due to the mis-calculations
the door makes. This is a "bug" with the door kit I use and has
been reported to the author of the library kit and should be fix
soon.

01-NOV-1990

Some XT systems locked up when using the EVCONFIG.EXE program and
the Door it self. Re-compiled the code under the 8088/8086
instruction set vice the 80286 ! Thanks New York and Texas !!

Some V42 modems experience what appears to be remote keyboard
lockup. Add &A1 &K0 to your modem dialing strings to correct this
problem. This seems to only happen to V42 modems used on the BBS
and when connecting to another V42 modem. Thanks Doug Haire for the
"troubleshooting" and finding the "fix" ! The door has been coded
to correct this problem, however should you experience this problem
use the above commands to fix it.

Some phone lines take longer than others to "recycle". The door may
appear to not be working correctly. As long as another user isn't
knocking your "BBS door down" to get in, the second try at calling
out, should take care of this "recycle" problem. Please take into
consideration that alot of "things" must take place at the "right"
time in order for the door to work properly. Line noise, other
users trying to "get in", phone line recycle too slow, or users who
are not reading and following the prompts and on-line instructions
for the door will all cause the door to "appear" to not be working
correctly. PATIENTS is the KEY !!!

If you start to have problems with the "search" function on the
VERIFY.FON file, whereas a phone number is in fact in the
VERIFY.FON but the door fails to "find" it and the door doesn't
note it. You might have an EOF (End Of File) marker in the wrong
place. Use an EDITOR that does not leave an EOF at the end of the
file, such as Qedit or QuickDOSII editor. The EOF will look like a
small arrow pointing to the right, or like this => ^Z You must
remove this, or the door will not function properly. Better yet,
don't touch the VERIFY.FON file except to "look" at it. This
applies to ALL .FON files => PREFIX.FON * AREACODE.FON * VERIFY.FON

DESQview users !! If the Verify Door locks up once a connection is
made. You will need to increase you memory for your BBS window to
about 512k.

DO NOT run EVCONFIG while another node is up and running. You WILL
get a SHARE violation, because the configuration program looks for
the callers log and actually opens it to make sure that it does in
fact exist.

  1. Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!

  2. This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.

  3. But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
