º ABOUT CHEAPTALK º
CheapTalk allows users to edit brief messages that will randomly be chosen to
be displayed to the user online at various prompts.
º COMMANDS º
The following is a brief description of each command. An asterisk (*) next to
the command indicates that a particular security level is required to access
it. If you have any questions about these commands, be sure to ask the SysOp.
[A]ssign Messages* - This command allows you to (re)assign a message. A
message may have one of four assignments. (1) To a
specific user, so only that user may edit the
message; (2) by a password so the message may be
edited by any user who knows the password; (3) By
security level, so the message may only be edited by
users with a certain security level and above; or
(4) No assignment, so the message may be edited by
anyone. Assignments may be made either globally
(affecting all messages) or on a per message basis.
(No Global Assignments in Unregistered Version)
[E]dit Message - This allows you to edit a message providing you are
the assigned owner of the message or it is password
protected and you know the password or you have a
security level high enough to override these
requirements. Also with the required security level,
messages may be edited globally. Note that when doing
a Global Edit, there is a random option for the
colors. This will randomly select one of the
color filters for each message.
(No Global Edits/Color FIlters in Unregistered Vers)
[H]elp - Online documentation explaining each command.
Basically, you're reading it now.
[I]nitialize Messages* - This will reset the entire message system, as if it
had never been used to begin with. Use with caution.
[L]og of Activities* - This will display the log of events that have
occurred within CheapTalk.
[Q]uit - This will exit you from CheapTalk and return you
back to the BBS.
[R]ead Messages - This will display all of the messages. You can either
list them continuously, one at a time with the option
to abort or view only one message in particular.
[S]how Message Owners - This will show you a list of each message and the
owner of the message (or if it is protected by
security level, password or belongs to anyone).
If you have a high enough security level, you will
also see the password (for password protected
messages). Otherwise, it will be hidden. Also, with
that same security, you will see the level required
in order to edit a security protected message.
[V]iew Color Filters - This will display, one by one, each of the available
color filters for messages. A line will be displayed
for each color of the filter as well as the filter's
(No Color Filters in Unregistered Version)
