Added NOAREA option. Changed NOPRIVATE methodology -
NOTE THE CHANGE in the documentation!
BETA 3-3 03-15-89
---------------------
Added NOCOMMENTS, NOPRIVATE, NOSCREEN options. See
documentation for usage.
BETA 3-2 NOT RELEASED
-------------------------
BETA 3-1 03-06-89
---------------------
Improved the REFERENCE command. "ALL" messages are now
properly threaded, etc.
BETA 3-0 03-04-89
---------------------
Changed the extract to start with a low message number of
2.MSG, rather than 1.MSG. This was necessary, because some
OPUS/Fido compatible software use the 1.MSG for a high-water
mark. Thanks to Jim Bolster for this information.
Added a NODELETE parameter so that xx.MSG files are NOT
deleted after an append. This was added at the request of
Carl Evans. NOTE: If you use this flag, make sure you have
your batch file delete the xx.MSG files prior to any new
appending, otherwise you will get duplicate messages added
to your message base!
Added a NOFAILSAFE parameter so that execution of CHAMLEON
can proceed even if there is less than two (2) megabytes of
free disk space (Chameleon used to refuse "service" as a
safety precaution if there was less than 2 meg free).
Changed the message REFERENCE logic so that referencing time
is considerably reduced. The older LONG method is still
available (see docs for the difference).
Added the creation of an ERROR.FIL file that is created in
the event of a fatal error. Please report back any errors
you encounter so that I may make appropriate fixes.
KNOWN BUGS:
-----------
An error 14 occurs during some message APPENDS, resulting
in aborted operations. I was naive in the past, and never
made note of which line number it occurred in. If you get
this error, please let me know the error and the line it
occurred in. This generally occurs during the APPENDING of
a large xx.MSG file (usually over 10K bytes), or when the
xx.MSG file is corrupted.
Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!
This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.
But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
