This program will allow you to use EGA memory for extra memory for dos.
On my system I got 753,664 bytes, a gain of 98,304 bytes. It however
disables EGA graphics, so you must disable this program to re-enable
ega graphics.

Usage is:

rvmx on enable rvmx

rvmx off disable rvmx

This program will not work with ms-dos 5.00 EMM386.EXE for some reason,
it will report that you do not have 640k of memory even though you do.
I think its because emm386 backfills about 384k which fools this program.
I really don't know however.

It also will not work if you have the ms-dos 5.00 DOSSHELL program in
memory. Run mem /c if you use the dosshell program to make sure it is
not in memory before running rvmx or you will lock up your machine.

What it basically boils down to is if you are going to run a program that
will use the memory from A000h to B800h then you can't use rvmx. This
memory area range must be free.

  1. Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!

  2. This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.

  3. But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read:
