NUML
----

This little utility simply turns OFF the @#$% NUM_LOCK key that IBM
has set up as "standard" on all the "new" keyboards which have separate
cursor pads as well as the old numeric/cursor pad. If you got used to
the "old" keyboards, or have several around, use NUML on the new ones
in AUTOEXEC.BAT so you do not type 66666 or 88888 when you use your
old habits!

Use in AUTOEXEC.BAT:

NUML ;prints a message saying NUM_LOCK is OFF

or

NUML > nul: ;"eats" the message

God Bless Big Blue for Making Life "Simple"!

  1. Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!

  2. This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.

  3. But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
