TITLE: Virtual DR DOS 6.0
DOCUMENT ID#: FYI-M-1619
DATE: 30JULY92
PRODUCT: DR DOS / OS/2
PRODUCT VERSION: 6.0 / 2.0

SYMPTOM: Running DR DOS external commands under OS/2

ISSUE/PROBLEM Many of the external, and some of the internal
commands are not available to OS/2 users under the DOS emulation
shell for OS/2.

SOLUTION Create a bootable DR DOS floppy with the
associated CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files. Internally, these
files can point to device drivers and commands existing on the hard
drive, but it is perferred to have the device drivers and commands
on the floppy as well. Create a boot image of this floppy using
the OS/2 VMDISK command (found in the OS2\MDOS directory). This
image can be used to create a DOS window and will emulate DR DOS
6.0.

Commands not to use in the CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT:

EMM386.SYS
TASKMAX.EXE
SHARE.EXE

  1. Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!

  2. This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.

  3. But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
